Struans - About Us

Struans are a local family business committed to providing the best service and value for our customers.

Since we started over 50 years ago Struans have grown from humble beginnings to become one of the most popular places for car buyers in Tayside with locations in Dundee and Perth including award winning dealerships for Peugeot and Mazda. More recently our Leisure division was added in 2019.

Since the late 1980's we have been offering car rental with the range of vehicles offered expanded to include motohomes in 2010. From just 1 motohome in the first year the fleet grew rapidly and we now run around 30 campervans and motorhomes.

Although we are now a large impressive operation it was not always like that - Struan Robertson (who the company is named after) was a highly respected mechanic who branched out on his own in 1974 with a small holding at Kinfauns just outside Perth, where he specialised in the servicing and repair of Volkswagens - almost all Beetles in the area visited him at some point!

However, as his reputation spread, it soon became clear that the business needed to expand in order to meet customer demand and so his brother John joined forces with him as they moved into larger premises in South William Street in Perth in 1977.

Struan Motors popularity flourished, helped by the convenience of this new city centre location, and soon adjacent property was taken over to help cope with demand and allow for the arrival of the Mazda franchise which was awarded way back in 1981, making Struans one of the longest established Mazda dealers in the UK!

The next big step was when, due to their growing reputation for customer service, Toyota chose Struans to represent them in Perth, which once again required more room, and a showroom in nearby Victoria Street was created.

Some of these city centre properties still bear the Struan name to this day as they are where our tyres and all-makes servicing branch is based.

Our landmark Struans Motor Village in Crieff Road, Perth first started off in 1987 when our Toyota showroom moved there, to what had been a greenfield site.

Ever since then there has been continual development with the opening of our Peugeot showroom in 1989, and our new Mazda showroom in 1995. The site has also seen a large and spacious used car display area created, with a large customer car parking area rarely seen at dealerships with landscaping to give a relaxed atmosphere..

Over the years Struans had developed a loyal customer base from all over the country, but particularly in Dundee. This led us develop a prominent site there into a modern dealership in 2002 .

Still to this day John and Struan who own the company are actively involved in its running with their friendly down to earth manner being part of the company's DNA, with teh staff focused on ensuring our customers receive the best possible experience at Struans.

With many staff having been with us for 10, 20 and even over 30 years we enjoy getting to know our customers and thy enjoy dealing with the same people over the years.

Now that we have grown to have 2 great centres in Perth and Dundee we are now focused on ensuring our customers recieve the best possible experience at Struans
